Virginia Confederate Money
|
Virginia seceded from the Union on April 17, 1861 becoming the 8th State to join the Confederacy. Surprisingly, Virginia wasn't among the first states to secede and didn't do so until after the firing upon Fort Sumter and President Lincoln ordering 75,000 troops to suppress the rebellion. When Virginia did secede, the capitol of the Confederate States of America was then moved to Richmond from Montgomery.
This section of the Virginia confederate money store deals with the issues of Virginia as issued during the Civil War. Virginia was the scene of more battles than any other state during the Civil War, so most of her confederate money was issued at places in which interest Civil War enthusiasts, consequently a lot of Civil War Battle Reenactments also take place now in Virginia.
