West Virginia License Plates
WV tags are highly collectible, even from non residents of the state. License plates in the Mountain state were first issued in 1905 or 06. Porcelain tags were issued from 1907 thru 1915-16. The first year West Virginia license plates were a thin metal and only a couple exsist today and those bring over 10,000.00. The first couple years of porcelain tags also sell for 5,000.00 or more. West Virginia used the slogans centennial in 1963 and 1964, mountain state from 1965 thru 76 and then Wild Wonderful was utilized. The state of West Virginia does allow the use of license plates for year of manufacture or yom, on classic and antique automobiles or motorcycles over 25 years old. You will have to check the WV year of manufacture laws before using license plates for this purpose.
