Virginia Confederate Money Rockingham County One Dollar

One dollar note from Rockingham county Virginia as issued during the Civil War era, July 1, 1861. This vintage bill has a greenish blue tint, printed with black ink. The note says Harrisonburg, VA July 1, 1861. The County of Rockingham Rockingham Liable. The County of Rockingham will pay One Dollar to the bearer in County Bonds bearing interest payable semi-annually, when an amount equal to Twenty-five Dollars is presented. Harrisonburg was in the center of the Shenandoah Valley and as such was an important city during the Civil War as this was the breadbasket of the Confederacy. Many civil war skirmishes took place around this area and many reenactments take place in this area today.
