Grayson County Virginia confederate money change note set 1862
Type of Confederate Money - The complete fractional currency set that was issued by Grayson county Virginia during the Civil War period. This sale consists of the 10 cents, 15 cents, 50 cents and 1 dollar notes. That was all 4 denominations that were produced by Grayson county during the Civil War. There are some different varieties of these CSA bills, but this can be considered the complete set. Some were printed on the back of old French bonds, but these 4 are all on plain paper.
Nickname or Vignettes - The .10 and .15 are plain, the half dollar and dollar have a milkmaid carrying her bucket of milk at the left ends.
Date & Place of Issue - All 4 of these examples of confederate money were issued in June of 1862 with different dates that are handwritten.
Serial Number & Plate Letter - various
Condition - these notes will average very good to fine, but with faults which can be seen in the picture.
Back - all 4 backs of this Virginia obsolete currency are plain and show considerable wear as per grade. Some show repairs also.

Type of Bank Paper Used - plain, mostly brown paper
Payable In - The county of Grayson will pay (amount) to the bearer in any current circulating medium on or after the 25th day of December 1864 upon demand made of the Sheriff of Grayson Co. And this is receivable in payment of any county dues payable in the year 1864 or after that. Witness Jas. W. Ballard, Clerk of Grayson County Court.
Notes - While not the prettiest notes around, as scarce as these are, it will probably take a long time to put together this complete set. There are approximately between 25 to 49 of the dime, fifteen cents and half dollar notes known to still exist. The dollar note is scarcer, only between 10 - 24 of these still exist.
