VA Obsolete Civil War Currency 1862 Type of Confederate Money - 5.00 Treasury Bill issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nickname or Vignettes - The center portrait is J. M. Bennett, who was the auditor of public accounts, at the right is the state seal. Date & Place of Issue - Issued during the 2nd year of the Civil War on March 13, 1862 from Richmond Virginia. Serial Number & Plate Letter - Various Condition - Fine or a little better, these notes will show wear, but no junk. All will be centered nicely, with nice green coloring. There will be folds, pinholes and etc as per grade. Back - The backs of this Virginia confederate money were plain, these will have folds and wear as per grade. Criswell & Fricke Numbers - Criswell number 13, which means these are the 5.00 treasury bills printed on plain unwatermarked paper. Number Issued & Printers - Keatinge and Ball of Richmond Virginia Type of Bank Paper Used - Average Payable In - 5.00 to the bearer Notes - I have more than one of these examples of Virginia confederate money, so the one in the picture might not be the one you recieve, but all are the same fine to fine plus quality.
