This vintage currency is from the City of Richmond and is 30 cent change currency dated April 14, 1862. Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis placed the City of Richmond under martial law in 1862, and these obsolete bills are from that period in time. This antique example is graded Almost Uncirculated. Though not exactly rare, these are nice examples of this type. This Civil War era bill reads The City of Richmond will pay to bearer on demand, Thirty Cents when presented in sums of one or more dollars. And this note is receivable for any dues to the City of Richmond. Authorized by Act of Assembly.
