Virginia Confederate Money Bank of Pittsylvania 5 dollars Fine

A nice 5.00 obsolete Bank of Pittsylvania bill that was issued during the beginning periods of the Civil War era from Chatham Virginia. This is a very well executed note because it was made by the American Bank Note Company, this was allowed because this bill was issued before the Civil War actually began. At the left is Ceres standing holding a sycle, in the center is a farm scene with boys plowing the fields with horses and at the right is a portrait of an unknown girl. This confederate money is a very nice example for the grade of fine, with the green overprints still very dark and crisp. It is estimated that between 100 to 199 of these Pittsylvania Bank notes with the machine printed serial number still exist today.
