Five Obsolete Hydeville VT change notes Type of Union Currency - A set of 5 shinplaster notes issued by A. W. Hyde of Hydeville Vermont, consisting of the 5, 10, 15, 25, and 50 cents bills. Nickname or Vignettes - The five, fifteen and fifty cents notes all have Indians on the left ends, the 10 cents has a boy carrying stalks of something on his head and the quarter note has a man with a wide hat setting under a tree. All of the notes are red in color. Date & Place of Issue - October 1, 1862 during the early part of the Civil War and from Hydeville, Vermont. Serial Number & Plate Letter - These are probably remainders because there are no numbers on the notes. Condition - All 5 notes are uncirculated with beautiful red color tints and excellent paper quality. Back - The backs of all these Obsolete Vermont Civil War notes are plain, these are choice as per grade. Criswell & Fricke Numbers - Not applicable Number Issued & Printers - Seibert and Brothers 93 Fulton Street New York. You don't often see a street adress listed on these pieces of Civil War currency. Type of Bank Paper Used - good quality Payable In - The Hydeville Company will pay the bearer of this check (amount) in currency when presented in sums of even dollars. Capital 100,000 all paid in.
