A postcard from the 1911 Reunion held by the UCV at Little Rock Arkansas. This reunion held on May 16 to 18 drew more than 140,000 people, which included over 12,000 veterans. This was the largest event in Little Rock history until the election night of William Jefferson Clinton in 1992. The city erected a veteran's camp and named it after Arkansas native Confederate Colonel Robert Glenn "Fighting Bob" Shaver of the seventh Arkansas Infantry. Colonel Shaver was still living and served as commander of the camp during the reunion. Events at this reunion included speeches, receptions, arcades, dances, hot air balloon rides and the high point was the parade which was held on May 18 and lasted for 2 hours. That night a Veteran's ball was held which concluded this 1911 UCV reunion. On the back of this postcard is the poem Grand Old Arkansas written by O. P. Findley. The lower left corner is missing from this postcard, but other than that has a very nice appearance. The picture shows the actual UCV postcard that is for sale, in addition the back of this United Confederate Veteran reunion souvenier can be viewed in the gallery.
