Type 71 & Type 72 Confederate Money
Type 71 and Type 72 were the last notes of the last series of Confederate money printed by the Confederacy during the last of the Civil War. The type 71 is the one dollar denomination which features Clement C. Clay who served in the senate of the Confederate States of America as a Senator from the state of Alabama. This CSA note is still common in all grades, but is gaining value in the upper uncirculated condition. Type 72 confederate money is the second of the 50 cents fractional currency issues which featured the bust of Jefferson Davis in the center. Both types of this confederate money are dated February 17, 1864 and issued from Richmond Virginia, the capitol of the Confederacy.
