Type 71 & Type 72
The T-72 bills were the last issue of confederate money from the confederacy and featured the bust of Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate States of America. These were 50 cents change notes and were printed by Archer and Daley, who made 1,132,000 of these bills. The backs of these notes were plain as it was considered to costly to print backs on such low denomination notes, because at this stage of the Civil War, 50 cent notes were practicallly worthless, but they were printed on higher quality paper. This confederate money type is common today in all grades. Issued from Richmond Virginia and dated February 17, 1864.
