Type 70 Judah P. Benjamin 2.00
Confederate Money Type 70The T-70, 2.00 confederate money features Judah P. Benjamin who served as the secretary of war and state during the Civil War for the confederacy. He also served as attorney general. Judah P. Benjamin was known as the Brains of the Confederacy. After the Civil War he fled to England, because of rumors that he had masterminded the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. In England, Judah P Benjamin prospered as well as he did in the American South. The backs of this confederate money were plain as it wasn't considered feasible to print backs on a low denomination note this late in the war with the raging inflation. The fronts came in different colors of orange and reds with the darker colors bringing a premium. There were 932,800 of these notes produced and they are common in all grades today. The T-70 types of confederate money were issued from Richmond, Virginia and are dated February 17, 1864. |
