Type 27 - Type 31 Confederate Money
This group of confederate money includes the very scarce Type 27 which is Liberty seated by shield and eagle, there were only 8,576 issued in the Civil War, today they are extremely rare, bringing over 30,000.00 in decent condition. The T-28 is common and portrays Ceres and Commerce with an urn. Type 29 can be found in the lower quality conditions at a cost of a few hundred dollars, however they are very scarce in the upper grades and will bring around 5 figures. Type 30 is the common General Francis Marion and the sweet potatoe dinner vignette in the center. Type 31 is another of the beautiful red tint notes made by the Southern Bank Note company, this confederate money features the Five Females in the center and a statue of George Washington. This bill circulated heavily during the Civil War and thus is scarce in the upper grade conditions. All of this group of confederate money is from the Confederate States of America third series of notes, authorized by the Act of August 19, 1861, which allowed for the printing of an additional 100 Million dollars of new paper money during the Civil War.
