Type 71 Clement C. Clay 1 dollar
A nice upper grade example of the 1.00 Confederate money featuring Clement C. Clay. This note was issued during the latter part of the Civil War on February 17th, 1864 at Richmond Virginia. Clay was a Senator from Alabama for the South during the Civil War. This note is very close to choice almost uncirculated, the only flaw that I can see is a very slight fold mark, which is barely noticeable from the front. If not for that this confederate money would be uncirculated as the paper is still very crisp and has very nice centering. The Criswell variety of this bill is CR-574 and the new PF number is PF-12, which means that this 1.00 confederate money was printed and engraved by Keatinge and Ball and has periods before both plate letters. The pictures show the actual front and back of this Civil War Confederate money that is for sale.
