| Confederate Money type 60 which will grade uncirculated. While being uncirculated, the note has several small pinholes and there is aging spots on the paper at places. This note has the maroon date stamp with February 1864. Criswell lists this as variety 464 and Fricke as T-60, PF-27, which means the lithographed by Evans & Cogswell is at the left end and Engraved by Keatinge and Ball Columbia SC is at the bottom and there is no series. This note was issued from Richmond Virginia during the Civil War on April 06, 1863. The Virginia state capitol in Richmond is shown in the center of this note and C. G. Memminger, who was the Secretary of the Treasury for the Confederacy, is shown at the right. I have more than one of these Type 60 notes, but all of this group will be in the same uncirculated condition with small pinholes and toning on the paper and all will have the maroon February 1864 date stamp. |
