A very nice example of Type 59 confederate money which will grade almost uncirculated. The centering and printing is excellent on this CSA currency with just the slightest traces of handling marks along with a few small pinholes. There is also some corner wear and ink spots, including one on the back that looks like a hole, but it is an ink spot. This bill even has the desirable red date stamp, this one is the April 1863 stamp. The T-59 has the proposed state capitol building that was supposed to be built in Columbia South Carolina. At the right corner is R. M. T. Hunter who served as secretary of state for the confederacy as well as a southern senator. This confederate bill is from the 1st series and was lithographed by Evans and Cogswell and made by Keatinge and Ball of Columbia SC. The back has a fancy blue design with 10 small blue circles with each containing an X. The date of this note is April 6, 1863, about midway through the Civil War and from Richmond Virginia. The picture shows the actual Type 59 confederate money that is for sale, in addition a picture of the back of this CSA currency can be seen in the photograph gallery.
