Type 50 CSA Obsolete 50 dollars

A nice upper grade Jefferson Davis confederate 50.00 bill which is dated December 2nd 1862 and issued from Richmond Virginia. This note will grade EF-AU, and is choice for the grade and has a very nice appearance. The bill was folded into thirds long ago and there are some light pencil markings on the back, but this barely detracts from this example. The green tint is still dark and vivid as is the printing. The centering is also excellent with full borders all around the note. The serial number is 64340 and the plate letter is Aw. Criswell lists this note as variety 360 and Fricke lists as PF13. This means that this note if from the 3rd series by Keatinge and Ball, Columbia South Carolina, which is all above fundable in stocks or bonds on the left margin. The paper is also watermarked CSA in block letters surrounded by wavy border. This will also make an excellent type note if you only want an example of a nice Type 50 confederate money. This is one of the few CSA issues that wasn't counterfeited. The pictures show the front and back of the actual T-50 confederate money that is for sale.

The type 50 confederate money featured Jefferson Davis and was for the amount of 50.00. This was the first 50.00 confederate issue that had a printed back and the paper used was high quality bank note paper. The paper had several different watermarks including the Whatman and Wookey Hole watermarks. The Confederate States of America issued 414,000 of these notes.
