Nickname or Vignettes - Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate States of America is featured on the portrait in the center of the bill.
Date & Place of Issue - Issued from Richmond Virginia during the first part of the Civil War on December 2nd, 1862.
Serial Number & Plate Letter - The serial number, 90044 is handwritten in brown ink the plate letter is Az.
Condition - Profesionally graded by PMG at Choice Extremely Fine 45.
Back - The back of this confederate money has an ornate green design with The Confederate States of America written thru the center with 2 round medallions with 50 in them. This was the first Confederate 50.00 note with a design on the back.
Criswell & Fricke Numbers - Criswell number 351 and Fricke is PF4. This means this is the 3rd series, Keatinge and Ball is printed above the fundable clause, and was printed on paper with CSA watermark in horizontal block lettering.
Number Issued & Printers - 414,400 were printed by Keatinge and Ball, both from Richmond, Virginia and Columbia South Carolina.
Type of Bank Paper Used - High quality bank note paper with watermarks of J. Whatman, Hogkinson & Company and the infamous Wookey Hole Mill. A lot of these are very rare.
