A lower quality type 44 confederate money which grades very good. The paper is limp, has numerous pinholes and a stain, but the redeeming quality of this particular note is the clear border all around the note. Most of these notes were very unevenly cut and complete margins are scarce. The back of this bill is plain and I did not show a photograph. The back is worn per the grade and also shows the stain that is on the front. Lucy Pickens is again on another piece of confederate money, she is on the right, a steamship with sails for back up is in the center and on the left is Liberty. This note was the first 1.00 bill issued by the confederate government and was printed on poor quality paper and were circulated heavily. Therefore the higher grades are somewhat scarce but due to the high number of 1,689,860 being printed, the higher grades can still be readily found. Choice notes with a clear cut are getting scarce today.
