Type 36 Obsolete Civil War Currency Nickname & Vignettes - Nickname of this note is Ceres on Cotton Bale. The lower left vignette is a sailor leaning on a capstan with a telescope in his hand. The center is a female figure representing Ceres, the Goddess of the Harvest, seated on a bale of cotton. She is holding a caduceus in her left hand with 2 serpents entwined. Date and Place of Issue - Richmond Virginia issued during the beginning of the Civil War on September 2, 1861 Serial Number and Plate Letter - Various, all the serial numbers are written in red Condition - All the confederate money bills in this group will grade very fine - extra fine. They will all have good cuts, crisp paper, some pinholes. All in all a nice looking bunch of bills for the grade. Back - Plain, folds and wear as per grade, some have light pencil figures written in a corner. Criswell & Fricke Numbers - Various Number issued and printers - 3,694,890 by J. T.
