Type 30 confederate money 10.00 issued during the Civil War on September 2nd, 1861 from Richmond Virginia. Criswell lists this as variety 239 and Fricke as T-30, PF-3. This example has been graded by the new grading firm CC&A which is specializing in Confederate Money issued during the Civil War. They give this note the grade of Choice Very Fine 20. Other information on the holder is J.T. Holt signed for Register, B. H. Berry signed for Treasurer and this is from Series 2 and has a rarity value of R1, which is common. On the back under special notes is Full bold Frame lines and nearly full minor frame lines. This means that the bill is centered nicely. The photos show the actual front and back of the Type 30 confederate money that is for sale.
The Type 30 Confederate Money has in the center vignette General Francis Marion's Sweet Potato Dinner and on the right is Minerva, the Goddess of War. R. M. T. Hunter, the Secretary of State for the Confederacy, is at the left. There were 1,939,810 of these bills produced by B. Duncan. Overall this confederate money is common, until you get in the upper choice unciruclated grades, then it starts getting scarce and expensive. |
