Type 28 confederate money issued from Richmond Virginia during the Civil War on September 2nd, 1861. Criswell lists this as variety 233 and Fricke as T-28, PF-5, which is the rarer of the varieties of this type of confederate money. CC&A has graded this note as an average Very Fine 25. Other information on the holder is C. C. Thayer signed this for register and J. W. Jones as Treasurer and this is a Hoyer and Ludwig note. The rarity of this variety note is R3, while the overall Rarity scale of this type of confederate money is R1. The pictures show the actual confederate money that is for sale.

The Type 28 Confederate Money features Ceres, the Goddess of Agriculture, holding an urn, the other female represents Commerce. On the right is an early train scene. Hoyer and Ludwig and J. T. Paterson both made this note. There were 1,074,980 of these produced and these were made on a poor quality paper, which did not hold up well. This Type 28 confederate money is common except in the upper choice categories.
