T-20, Industry between Cupid and Beehive 20.00 Fine

This T-20 note is Criswell variety 141 from the 1st series, the new PF number is T20, PF5 and grades Fine, with ink erosion, which has made a 1/4 inch split at the bottom. There are also pinholes present and numerous fold marks showing on the back, but the centering is good, which is rare for this note. The person signing the note above got carried away as the signature comes down into this bill. The T-20 confederate note featured Industry between Cupid and a beehive, the beehive also symbolized industry, in the center vignette. At the right side was Hope leaning on an anchor, on the left was Alexander H. Stephens, the vice president of the confederacy during the Civil War. There were over 2.8 million of these bills produced, they are common in all grades except choice uncirculated. These were issued from Richmond, Virginia and are dated September 02, 1861.
