South Carolina Railroad 2 Dollars Choice UNC

Your Price: $85.00
Item Number: SC Railroad 2.00 6643
Manufacturer: CSA - Confederacy Capital - Montgomery AL, Richmond VA

South Carolina Railroad scrip dated July 1st, 1873, being the 2.00 note and in choice uncirculated condition. This is a top quality piece of railroad scrip made by the American Bank Note company, having a center vignette showing men loading cotton on a horse drawn wagon. There is also an elaborate green back with multi designs, which all made this note hard to counterfeit. Sheehen has this as SC number 667 and is a common note, as far as obsolete currency goes, but highly collectible. The South Carolina Railroad was conceived for the purpose of the big cotton planters having a way to get their cotton crops out of the upcountry of South Carolina. The pictures show the front and back of the actual South Carolina Railroad scrip that is for sale.
