Planters Bank of Tennessee 80 cents Scrip

A very rare piece of Tennessee bank scrip being the 80 cents note from the Planter's bank and issued during the Civil War on January 1st, 1862. This note will only grade good to very good, the printing has faded but still mostly legible and several pinholes as per grade. The Planters bank of Tennessee was established in 1834 and survived until near the end of the Civil War. There were branches located in Athens, Clarksville, Columbia, Franklin, La Grange, Memphis, Murfreesboro, Pulaski and Winchester. This note is from the Clarksville branch. There are not many notes left from the Clarksville branch of the Planters bank, in the Tennessee bank note book by Paul Garland, he has this note listed as R13, which means that only around 5 to 10 notes are known today. In addition to being from a rare bank, this note is also a rare denomination of 80 cents, not to many obsolete notes had this denomination. So even though this change note isn't in the best condition, it might be a long time before another one comes around. The pictures show the front and back of the actual Civil War Tennessee Confederate money that is for sale.
