Pennsylvania Obsolete Currency Easton & Wilkesbarre Turnpike Co. .50 VG

Wilkesbarre, PA - Easton and Wilkesbarre Turnpike Company 50 cents dated March 1, 1816. This obsolete money is nearly 200 years old! The turnpike was chartered in 1802 and cost $75,000 to build. It was also known as the Stagecoach Road. Graded Very Good. This antique bill says that The President and Managers of the Easton and Wilkesbarre Turnpike Company promise to pay the bearer, on demand, at the Office of their Treasurer, in bills current in Pennsylvania Fifty Cents, Wilkesbarre, March 1, 1816. I have more than one of these very early Pennsylvania obsolete Turnpike notes available for sale, so the one in the picture might not be the one you recieve, but all are the same very good quality. The backs of these PA scrip are plain and show wear as per grade.
