One of the beautiful green tinted notes made by the American Bank Note Company issued on June 5, 1860, during the pre war period when the American Bank Note Co was still operating in the southern states. This bill was for the Bank of Commerce issued from Newbern North Carolina in the amount of five dollars. The grade is fine, however a very nice fine as the green overprint is still dark and crisp. The back is plain and shows most of the wear of this confederate money, with several fold marks visible. The center vignette is a ship owner unoading or loading the cargo, at the left is a maiden gazing out to sea with a lighthouse in the distance, and on the right is another female portrait. The picture shows the actual North Carolina confederate money that is for sale.
