North Carolina Confederate Money
|
North Carolina became the tenth state to leave the union of the United States on May 20, 1861 and to join the Confederate States of America. The General Assembly of the Confederate State of North Carolina authorized the printing of over 20 Million dollars in paper confederate money to circulate in the state. The treasury issues of North Carolina are perhaps more common than the confederate money issued by the other states. There was a plethora of small change notes issued by the Tarheel state, which are still fairly common yet today. |
