Hudson, NY - Bank of Hudson Payable at Mechanics' Bank in New York. $1.00 Obsolete Bill dated May 10, 1817. This is a very nice choice very fine example of early obsolete United States currency, this country had only been in existence for 41 years when this banknote was printed. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were still living when this one dollar note rolled off the printing press. This very early currency example has a center image of an eagle with wings spread and states "The Bank of Hudson promises to pay JF Jenkins or bearer One Dollar on demand at the Mechanics' Bank in the City of New York. Hudson. 10 May, 1817. The picture shows the actual Bank of Hudson note that is for sale, the note looks much better than the picture suggests. The paper is still white and not brown as in the photo.
