New Jersey Motorcycle License Plates

The first known New Jersey motorcycle license plate was issued in 1912, the state dated all the bike tags up until 1961, which at that time started using dated stickers. Through the decades of the 60s, 70s and 1980s the NJ Department of Motor Vehicles used the iconic cream and black or cream and dark blue color scheme on all their motorcycle tags, along with a heavier guage metal than most plates of the era. The size was also different, being a long narrow type of tag.
