Missouri Confederate Money 4.50 defence bond in extra fine condition
Type of Confederate Money - Four and a half Dollars Defence Bond from the State of Missouri that was issued by the CSA secessionist government while in exile. This confederate money is also of interest to collectors of odd denomination notes, as not many 4.50 notes were produced in the obsolete money field.
Nickname or Vignettes - The left vignette shows 3 women portraying Commerce, Prosperity, and Navigation, this fills the left third of the note. At the bottom right is the state seal of Missouri.
Date & Place of Issue - It is believed that possibly none of this series of notes were ever issued.
Serial Number & Plate Letter - None
Condition - extra fine with stamp hinge markings from an old time collector. There are also paper crinkles which were in the paper when the bill was printed by the Confederate Goverment over 140 years ago.
Back - plain, with the hinge markings and paper crinkles more visible from the back than from the front.

Number Issued & Printers - Keatinge and Ball of Columbia South Carolina were the printers and the secessionist government of Missouri printed a total of 10 million dollars worth of currency during the entire Civil War.
Type of Bank Paper Used - Good quality coarse paper with watermark
Payable In - Three years after date the state of Missouri will pay Four dollars and fifty cents to bearer. Secured by pledge of all the state revenues. Under the act of November 5th, 1861 to provide for the defence of the state of Missouri.
