Missouri Confederate Money CR05C Five Dollars Bond AU

A five dollar bill from the state government of Missouri that was sympathetic to the Confederate States of America. Even though these were issued from Jefferson City, the confederate government was already long gone from this state captial as Union forces had already taken over Jefferson City. The center vigentte is Commerce seated on bales with a shield made of a cotton plant. The grade of this five dollar confederate money is almost uncirculated, however there is ink erosion at the bottom signature, with y in the signature splitting the note. This obsolete civil war currency is the type that Criswell signified as Missouri CR - 5C, which means the engraver's imprint is not on the bill and there is also the handwritten issue date of August 1, 1863.
