A 3 cent change note from W. P. Marshall located at No. 4 Merchant's Row of Boston Massachusetts. This obsolete civil war currency was issued sometime most likely in the 1860s. The grade is VF with 2 punch cancels and also a very light stain over the bill or could also be from aging from light hitting the note at some time. This Boston scrip shows how scarce metal coinage was during the Civil War, it says, Memorandum Check when out of change good for three cents in current funds when presented in even dollars and signed by W.
