Massachusetts Motorcycle License Plates

Massachusetts motorcycle license plates were first issued in 1903 and were made of porcelain for a few years. If you want to use any of these MA motorcycle tags for year of manufacture use on your antique Harley Davidson, Indian, or any other classic motorcycle, you will first need to contact the department of motor vehicles to see if they allow the use of plates for YOM purposes. From 1904 through 1909 the owners of motorcycles were required to also paint their DMV number of the side of their battery boxes, from 1910 through 1914 a brass disc was issued. Massachusetts issued their motorcycle plates in pairs from 1916 through 1966, which is not a common occurence in the field of motorcycle tags.
