A three dollar bill issued by the Somerset and Worcester Bank from Salisbury Maryland during the Civil War period on November 1, 1862. This beautiful note was made by the American Bank Note company of New York and is full of vignettes. At the left is a maiden with flowers in her hair, the center vignette shows blacksmiths fixing a wheel with a woman watching holding a shock of wheat and an anvil in the background, anohter woman is on the right side. In addition to that you have 3 medallions all with 3 in them. The back is very fancy also, with green designs completely covering the back and another 3 round medallions each with a 3 in them. Maryland was a border state during the Civil War and had even been some talk of some parts of the state going with the South, but in the end went with the Union. The picture shows the actual three dollar Obsolete money that is for sale, in addition the back of this Maryland Civil Currency can also be seen in the photograph gallery.
