Louisiana Motorcycle License Plates

The first motorcycle license plate in the state of Louisiana was manufactured around 1915 and approximately 450 were issued during this year. Early motorcycle tags from LA are very scarce and expensive, about the scarcest of any state in the Union. In fact, bike tags from this state are extremly rare up through the World War II years of 1945, expect to pay in the mid 4 figure range for any motorcycle license plates of this era, if you can even find one. If you wish to use any of these license plates for Year of Manufacture on your antique Harley Davidson or any classic LA motorcycle, you will first need to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles to see if they allow the use of tag for YOM purposes.
