Louisiana Confederate Money State of LA CR10 5.00 Treasury Note F-VF

Shreveport, Louisiana State $5 Treasury Notes dated March 10, 1863. With the fall of New Orleans to the Yankees in April of 1862, these notes were issued from Baton Rouge. This group of five dollar treasury notes were the only bills produced from the 3rd series of LA civil war notes. Theis grouping of Antique Louisiana Treasury Bills will grade fine or better with a couple of edge splits. This Louisiana currency was designed by B. Duncan. At its center is a scene depicting an armored Southern fighter vanquishing a Northern soldier, who lies on the ground with a broken sword. Also included in this dramatic image of Confederate victory, the Southern soldier holds his foot upon the throat of a struggling eagle. The left vignette shows a pelican feeding its young and on the right is a bearded man setting above a water jug. I have more than one of these Lousiana five dollar treasury notes in stock, so the one you recieve might not be the one in the picture, but all are the same fine to very fine quality.
