A beautiful example of a one dollar obsolete note issued by the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern Railroad company. This confederate money was issued from New Orleans during the beginning part of the Civil War on November 16, 1861. After the Civil War, Confederate general, P. G. T. Beauregard became the president of this railroad company. His job was to try and get the tracks and company rebuilt after all the destruction the Civil War wrought upon this RR company. Train notes from the Civil War era are a collectible unto themselves, as some people have collections consisting soley of notes from rail road companies that existed during the Civil War. Antebellum notes on this company are fairly common, but not in the lofty grade of almost uncirculated such as this example. Most are worn considerably. The back of this note is plain. The picture shows the actual Louisiana confederate money that is for sale, in addition a larger view of this obsolete LA railroad currency can be seen in the photograph gallery.
