GA Obsolete Civil War Currency 50.00 Type of Confederate Money - A fifty dollar treasury note from the state of Georgia. Nickname or Vignettes - Moneta is setting by a treasure chest with the Georgia state coat of arms in the back ground. At the side are farm animals and produce. Date & Place of Issue - April 6th, 1864 from Milledgeville, Georgia. Serial Number & Plate Letter - 28858 A Condition - Professionally graded by PCGS at choice about new Back - The back of this Georgia confederate money is plain, this issue did not have the usual Georgia treasury seal, which is common on most of their currency. Criswell & Fricke Numbers - Criswell number GA CR-22 Number Issued & Printers - This was the 2nd authorization by Georgia for currency in the year 1864. The first notes were the smaller denomination bills, then later on in March, the general assembly authorized the issuance of an additional 12 million dollars of larger sized denominations were issued. These were engraved by Howell. Signed by T. D. Tinsley for the comptroller general and by R. J. McCamy for the treasurer. Type of Bank Paper Used - Average Payable In - The state of Georgia will pay the bearer fifty dollars at her treasury on the 25th day of December next, in Confederate Treasury notes issued after the 1st of April 1864, if presented within three months after maturity, otherwise not redeemable except in payment of public dues.
