Certified or Slabbed Coins

Professionally Certified Coins are a major part of the coin collecting hobby today. We deal mainly in either PCGS or NGC as these are the two largest and most respected companies that offer coin certification. If you buy a coin in either of their slabs you know you are getting what you pay for. Slabbed Coins are excellent for mail order when you are buying the coin without seeing the product in your hand, if the slab says mint state 66 then you know you are getting a very nice uncirculated example of your coin. The grading scales run from 1, which is in the worst condition imaginable but still being able to tell the date, up to a perfect 70. Proof coins are often graded at PF69 and occasionally even PF 70, but in regular coinage, you seldom see a coin above Mint State 66 or 67. If you worry about buying an over graded coin then you can rest more easily with certified coinage.
