Bank of the State of Georgia Confederate Money 5.00 Fine

Bank of the State of Georgia 5 dollars

Georgia Confederate Money from The Bank of the State of Georgia. This is the 5.00 bill and dated either 1859 or 1860. These were issued just on the eve of the Civil War period and are stamped paid in gold on the front. The Bank of the State of Georgia was started in 1815 and had branches in Athens, Augusta, Eatonton, Greensborough, Macon, Milledgeville, Washington and possibly Griffin. Of course, the bank failed during the Civil War. I have more than one of these Georgia confederate money 5.00 from the Bank of the State of Georgia, but all are the same around fine grade and either date 1859 or 1860. All are also stamped with the paid in gold stamp and all from the Athens branch. I did not photograph the back, it shows considerable wear as per grade.
