Arkansas License Plates

Arkansas issued their first license plate in 1911, this one was manufactured out of porcelain as were the next 2 years of production. The scarcest of Arkansas tags is the 1914, it ranks in the top 20 of the rarest license plates in the United States. No one knows for sure, but it is thought that in order to obtain a 1915 plate the motorists of Arkansas were forced to surrender their 1914 tag, but this is only rumor and not fact. Slogans used by the state DMV over the years have been Centennial Celebration in 1935, Opportunity Land in 1941 and 1948, Land of Opportunity from 1950 thru 1967 and again from 1975 to 1979. The Natural State was introduced to the motorists in 1989. The drivers of Arkansas have mostly only had single tags to put on their cars, pairs were issued from 1911 through 1933 and again from 1939 to 1942. Due to the metal shortage during WWII only windshield stickers were issued in 1943 and from 1944 to the present day only single tags have been used on passenger cars.
