1966 Virginia Motorcycle License Plate

A new old stock 1966 Virginia motorcycle license plate which is unused and in excellent to excellent plus condition. The color of these VA bike tags are black with white letters with VA and 66 both located at the left, this was the last year for the long narrow motorcycle license plates in the state of Virginia. Some motorcycle news during the year 1966 were Harley Davidson updated their old panhead motor, due to riders wanting more power. This new engine had rocker boxes that resembled coal shovels, hence the nickname Shovelhead. This shovelhead engine was in production for over 20 years. Harley aldo gave the Sportster new cams and carburetor. During the year of 1966 KTM produced their 10,000 th Comet, which was introduced 3 years prior. Yamaha introduced the YDS-3 which is the first Yamaha streetbike to take off in the United States.
