A good solid early set of 1917 Vermont license plates for a passenger automobile. The color is cream with blue lettering and the tags are undated. VT is stacked vertically at the left. The condition is good plus, with some rust and pitting of the metal in places, but still a good solid heavy pair. The state of Vermont began issuing license plates in 1905 and produced porcelain tags through 1915, so this set is only the second year of metal issues from the state. The registration number of this early pair is 7266. Vermont only had about 18,000 cars registered to run on the state's highways in the year 1917. The picture shows the actual pair of 1917 Vermont license plates that are for sale, in addition a much larger view of these antique VT tags can be seen in the photograph gallery.
