State & Year of Issue - 1914 California. This is an extremely nice example of the Golden State's first year of license plates.
Slogans on Tag - CAL is printed vertically at the left end, on the right end also vertically is the date of 1914.
Issued single or pairs - Pairs and both plates are with this sale.
Colors - Red background with white lettering
Type of License Plate - passenger, these are porcelain plates.
Condition - Excellent, While these California first year of state issue plates aren't exactly rare, they are rare in this lofty grade. The one tag, hardly even has a chip on it and the other only a couple minor chips. In the picture there is a white streak at the end, this is not a defect, but is the light shining on the porcelain. The gloss on both the red background and the white lettering is still excellent. These are probably among some of the finest 1914 California plates still in existance.
Back of License Plate - Stamped ING - RICH MFG. CO. Porcelain Auto Tag Beaver Falls, PA, the condition of the backs is like the fronts.

Notes - If you are looking for some of the finest first year of issue California plates then these are for you. These will look great on your antique 1914 CA automobile. But it will be up to the buyer to see if these tags will clear the California DMV, if they do then these will be a bargain. The actual set of antique 1914 California plates for sale are in the picture. The was the first year of manufacture for Dodge and about the 3rd year for Chevrolet and the Ford Model T was introduced to the public in 1909, so even it was a young car when these license plates were produced.
